Bolt is an upcoming CG animated movie by Disney Animations. John Travolta is lending his voice to Bolt and Miley Cyrus to Penny, the girl who owns Bolt.

The official trailer of Bolt has been released by Disney through Empire, and Bolt is indeed a cute naughty dog:

I think this movie is gonna be a hit: even the hamster or the cat look cool! You can be sure your children are going to claim Bolt toys: don't spend everything on Wall-E, yeap, keep some money for Bolt!

Bolt Sneak Preview

We won't have to wait until Wall-E to get a glimpse of Bolt: indeed this time we have a sneak preview of the final Bolt animated movie! And actually it looks much better than the mainstream watered-down version I may have been afraid of.

The sneak preview of Bolt come to us thanks to dedicated fans of Miley Cyrus. Yeap, the teen is lending her voice to Penny, the owner of Bolt the dog whose voice is made by John Travolta (is Bolt a Disco dancer dog?).

Penny and Bolt are stars of a TV show.	But Bolt is no superhero in real life...
Nonetheless he is a really kind dog!

If I hadn't paid my theater ticket for Wall-E already I would go stand in line to buy one right away, not only for Wall-E but also for the trailer of Bolt that will shown in front of the Pixar movie.

Bolt American Dog Preview Clip

As you may know, the movie Bolt was once titled American Dog. The project has since been through some meaningful updates. Nonetheless all the work already done with American Dog has more probably been reused in Bolt.

Check this early (bootleg?) preview clip of Bolt, well actually it's a clip from American Dog:

(I confirm it's a clip from American Dog. Indeed at the very first second,
below the TV, there is a picture of a brown dog, the original version of the dog by Chris Sander
which is here below in the picture.)
The dog is not anymore a brown dog,indeed in the new version Bolt is a white German shepherd. but the preview clip above is quite amazing if you focus on the horizon of mountain in background: the 3D is gorgeous!

The final Bolt movie, even with a German shepherd, must look really great. According to Quint from AintItCool who had the chance to be present during the presentation of the first 15 minutes of Bolt by Disney:

"[...] the footage had the heart of a Pixar movie, or a classic Disney movie. That combined with the nostalgia and just right feeling of having the look of traditional hand-painted backgrounds really made me feel at home with what I saw. Hopefully the movie lives up to the first impression." Quint

So Quintdoes confirm that the amazing 3D is still there: I'm feeling more positive by now about Bolt. I'm even confident that it's going to be a great animated movie.

Bolt is an upcoming CG animated produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. Much of the original graphic style of the film was inspired by the work of Edward Hopper. New technology in non-photorealistic rendering is used to give a special visual appearance to the movie. Furthermore a new patented technology has been specifically designed for Bolt in order to give a hand-painted look to the the 3D backgrounds.

The movie can boast the voice talents of John Travolta, as Bolt the dog, and of Miley Cyrus, as Penny, the young girl who owns Bolt.

Here the plot:
"The story is about Bolt, a white German Shepherd who has lived all his life on the set of a TV show in which he portrays a superhero dog, and as a result thinks that his superpowers are real. Later, he gets accidentally separated from the studio. He then meets a female cat named Mittens and a hamster who never leaves his exercise ball, and eventually he discovers that all of his powers are fake. " (Source: Wikipedia)

A nice Disney movie to bring my children to watch then!

Well those first pictures give the impression that Bolt is a nice family CGI movie... Still need more stuffs from the animated movie to really make my mind about it. One thing though: on the marketing sheet the dog looks much more naughty than on the following promo pictures.Let's hope that this naughtiness will be back in the final Bolt movie!

Bolt Was Once American Dog

The project Bolt was originally titled 'American Dog', and was originally to be written and directed by Chris Sanders (director of Lilo & Stitch).

Chris Sander had his own creative idea about the film:

But Chris Sander's vison of the animated movie, with a one-eyed cat and an oversized, radioactive rabbit, was a little too bold.

Disney wants indeed something more mainstream that could position as the family film of the holidays: Disney wants Bolt to be every kid's best friend and the ultimate action hero.

That's why Chris Sanders has since left the project and been replaced by Chris Williams and Byron Howard. As a result the movie is now titled Bolt. (More about this controversy here.)

Bolt is more politically correct. But one should not over criticize Disney for its choice. The goal of the company isn't art for art's sake after all: CALPERS and other shareholders rightfully wait for their dividends.

Nevertheless I wish ~~Adam~~ Chris Sanders to find some generous sponsor to finance his own project one day, for art's sake.
